IN THIS SECTION
Our School of Physical Education and Sports, established under the Council of Ministers Decree dated October 2, 2000, within Balıkesir University, began its educational activities in the building allocated to the University by the Ministry of National Education on Cengiz Topel Street. The School admitted its first students to the Department of Sports Management in the 2002–2003 academic year. In the 2004–2005 academic year, the Departments of Physical Education and Sports Teaching and Coaching Education were established, allowing the School to operate under three main departments.
In the 2005–2006 academic year, the School moved to the Necati Bey Faculty of Education building, and in the 2013–2014 academic year, it relocated to its current modern facility on the Çağış Campus, where it continues its educational and research activities. Pursuant to the Presidential Decree dated March 28, 2020, the School of Physical Education and Sports was reorganized and elevated to the Faculty of Sport Sciences.
At present, the Faculty continues its academic and educational activities with the Department of Physical Education and Sports, the Department of Sports Management (both first and second education programs), and the Department of Coaching Education (both first and second education programs).
